FICM'S presence at the Cannes Critics’ Week 2015

Since its origins, FICM has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Cannes Critics' Week, and since 2005, this parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival shows a selection of works presented at the previous edition of the Morelia Film Festival. Thanks to this strategic alliance, many Mexican filmmakers have had the opportunity to present their work at Cannes. For instance, David Pablos, director of Las elegidas / The Chosen Ones (the only Latin American film in the Official Competition in Cannes 2015) screened his short film La canción de los niños muertos / The Song of the Dead Children (Best Short Film at the 6th edition of FICM) as part of the Critics’ Week in 2009.

We are pleased to announce that the 2015 edition of the Cannes Critics' Week will show four short films that were part of the 12th FICM's Official Selection:

- Nunca regreses / Never Come Back by Leonardo Díaz (Best Film in the Michoacán Section)

- Ramona by Giovanna Zacarías (Best Short Film)

- El palacio/ The Palace, by Nicolás Pereda (Official Selection FICM 2014)

¿Por qué el recuerdo? / The Solitude of Memory by Juan Pablo González (Official Selection FICM 2014)

{{Nunca regreses}}, {{Ramona}}, {{El palacio}} and {{¿Por qué el recuerdo?}} - 12th FICM short films that will be screened at the 2015 Cannes Critics' Week .

The screening will take place on Tuesday May 19 at 14:30am (French time).

Thanks to the strong partnership maintained between FICM and the Critics’ Week, a selection of films from this parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival will be screened at the 13th FICM, with the presence of some filmmakers. The presence of FICM in Cannes continues to consolidate and promote the dissemination of quality Mexican cinema on an international level.

The mission of the Critics’ Week is to discover and promote emerging talent, and the section screens only first or second feature films as part of the Cannes Film Festival. In this way, the Critics’ Week has paved the way for directors as celebrated as Bernardo Bertolucci, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Wong Kar Wai, Ken Loach, Barbet Schroeder and Guillermo del Toro, among many others. It is an honor for FICM to present the work of talented Mexican filmmakers in a forum as important and prestigious as the Critics’ Week.

The 54th edition of the Critics’ Week will take place from May 14-22, 2015, as part of the 68th Cannes Film Festival. For more information, visit: www.semainedelacritique.com
