On May 3rd, 2006, a violent confrontation took place between a group of flower vendors from the Belisario Dominguez Market and the State of Mexico Government, thus ignoring an agreement reached the day before. The flower vendors, backed by the "Frente de Pueblos en Defensa de la Tierra" (FPDT), were besieged and the demonstration was violently repressed. In the early morning of May 4th, the police stormed into San Salvador Atenco.
