Participants: Locarno Industry Academy in Morelia

This year, FICM, in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival, will launch the Locarno Industry Academy International in Morelia professional training program, which is focused on international sales, marketing, distribution, exhibition, curatorial expertise and programming. The objective of the Locarno Industry Academy International in Morelia is the training of young people who are interested in developing themselves professionally in the aforementioned areas and who are preferably already working in established companies.

The first edition of the Locarno Industry Academy International in Morelia is under the guidance of Marion Klotz (Locarno Industry Academy Project Manager) and Andrea Stavenhagen (Morelia Programmer and Industry Advisor). FICM and the Locarno Film Festival have chosen six Mexicans who work in distribution and exhibition in Cinépolis, Filmin Latino, Artegios Distribución, ND Mantarraya, Piano Distribución and La Ola, a new specialized distribution company. Those who were selected are:

- Abraham González Ruiz (ND Mantarraya)
- Andrea Castex (Piano Distribución)
- José Luis Mejía Razo (Cinépolis)
- Juan Patricio Riveroll (Artegios Distribución)
- Larissa Vega Gil (Filmin Latino)
- Pedro Segura Bernal (La Ola)

The confirmed speakers at the Locarno Industry Academy International in Morelia include: Miguel Rivera (Cinépolis), Diana Bustamante (FICCI Cartagena), Nadia Dresti (Locarno Film Festival), Christoph Terhechte (Berlinale Forum), Charles Tesson (Critics’ Week), Kim Hendrickson (The Criterion Collection), Laura Imperiale (Cacerola Films), Leopoldo Jiménez (Nueva Era Films), Yissel Ibarra (Filmin Latino), Lesli Klainberg (Film Society of Lincoln Center) and Joe Beyer and Missy Laney of the Sundance Institute.

In the words of Marion Klotz, the workshop will give a new generation a better perspective about the film industry and its challenges, in addition to the opportunity to connect with professionals in the industry and enjoy the experience of the 13th FICM.
