Juliette Binoche Will Be the Guest of Honor at the 12th FICM

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is pleased to announce that the extraordinary actress Juliette Binoche will be the Guest of Honor at its 12th edition. The winner of the Coppa Volpi at the Venice International Film Festival in 1993 for Blue by Krzysztof Kieslowski, the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1996 for The English Patient by Anthony Minghella and the award for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010 for Certified Copy by Abbas Kiarostami will be in Morelia to participate in various activities.

Daniela Michel, general director of FICM, noted: “We are very proud and honored that she is coming. It is the first time that she will be at a film festival in Mexico. Juliette Binoche is an icon of contemporary French and international cinema.”

Clouds of Sils Maria, directed by Olivier Assayas and starring Juliette Binoche, will have its national premiere at the festival. Summer Hours, by the same director, will also be shown. During her visit to Morelia, the actress will present a master conference that will be open to the public.

The Medal of the UNAM Film Archive (one of the most prestigious awards in Latin America in cinema) will be given to the well-known actress by the UNAM Film Archive. Other important figures who have received this award in the context of the festival are: Manoel de Oliveira, Terry Gilliam, Volker Schlöndorff and Abbas Kiarostami.
