The 12th FICM presents winners of the Jean Vigo Award

The winning films of the Jean Vigo Award 2014 were revealed today at the Pompidou Center in Paris. This prize was created in 1951 by the poet Claude Aveline and Amis de Jean Vigo. Since 1960, two awards are given each year: one to the author or the authors of a feature film, and another to the author or authors of a short film.

The Jean Vigo Award 2014 for best feature film went to Mange tes morts by Jean-Charles Hue. The jury commended him on “the speed and energy with which this immersion in a community never before seen in cinema is found in the power of the documentary, the physics and metaphysics of film noir and the original western.” This first film was also highlighted at the most recent edition of the Directors’ Fortnight.

The Jean Vigo Award 2014 for the best short film went to Inupiluk by Sébastien Betbeder. This work had also received the Audience Award and the Procirep at the International Short Film Festival – Clermont-Ferrand 2014.

We are pleased to announce that both films will be presented at a special screening at the 12th FICM, which will be held from October 17 to 26, 2014.
