BERLINALE AT A GLANCE
Industry Initiatives, Markets and Funding Opportunities at the Festival
Every February, Berlin becomes a hub and source of inspiration for the global film community: Along with the festival programme of around 400 films and high quality TV drama series, the Berlin International Film Festival offers a wide range of initiatives for the industry. More than 20,000 film professionals participate every year in the European Film Market, the Berlinale Co-Production Market and Berlinale Talents, and benefit from networking events, panel discussions and tailor-made business opportunities. Joint activities such as the Drama Series Days introduce a new level of internal co-operation between the industry sections and result in exceptional synergies for professional attendees. The whole year round the World Cinema Fund concentrates on backing the production and distribution of films, also from Mexico and other regions to help develop the film infrastructure.
In February 2017, Mexico will be the first “Country in Focus” at the European Film Market. The new programme gives the Mexican film industry and filmmakers the opportunity to introduce themselves in greater depth, highlight certain business aspects and create new connections with partners from around the world.
On the occasion of the Berlinale Spotlight in Morelia, a team of representatives from the festival, the European Film Market, Berlinale Talents and the World Cinema Fund will deliver insight on what the Berlinale is all about, including the various initiatives Berlin can offer for film professionals. The presentation is followed by smaller group discussions to answer your individual questions.
