Five short films by famous directors, free online

There is increasingly more cinema that can be seen free and online, but often the problem is deciding between the immensity of content out there. To make the Internet users’ lives easier, the Taste of Cinema website gathered short films by famous directors that can be seen on YouTube.

Here, we present short films by five masters of contemporary cinema: Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. To enjoy their work, you just need to press play.

Bedhead (1991) by Robert Rodriguez: Before directing his opera prima El Mariachi (1992), this FICM 2013 Special Guest made small comedies starring his own family.

Vincent (1982) by Tim Burton: In collaboration with Rick Heinrichs, Burton made this brief animated poem in honor of the terrifying actor Vincent Price.

The Big Shave (1967) by Martin Scorsese: The director nominated to the 2014 Oscars for The Wolf of Wall Street turns what starts like a shaving cream commercial into a blood bath.

Six Men Getting Sick (Six Times) (1966) by David Lynch: This director’s career has always been distinguished by his affection for the abstract and the enigmatic. This short film is no exception.

Things I Like, I Things I Don’t Like (1989) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet: This short film is the first collaboration between the director of Delicatessen (1991) and Amelie (2001) with the actor Dominique Pinon. Here they both show off their weird, dark and somehow sweet sense of humor.
